A Bayesian reliability model for repairable systems: an application to software data

چکیده
A commonly used definition of a repairable system (Ascher and Feingold, 1984) states that this is a system which, after failing to perform one or more of its functions satisfactorily, can be restored to fully satisfactory performance by any method other than replacement of the entire system. It is very obvious that most systems in the real world, such as automobiles, aircrafts or computers are designed to be repaired rather than replaced upon failure. The use of a Bayesian procedure allows the system reliability to be estimated by combining failure data of current stage with data of previous stages and prior information to be introduced into the inferential procedure. We present new models for the estimation of times between failures or numbers of failures in a given time. These models are non-parametric regression models based on Poisson failure counts and exponential inter-failure times, respectively. We construct a Bayesian inference method for our models using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling. We evaluate our Bayesian reliability models through an application to real software data.

متن کاملSolving Redundancy Allocation Problem with Repairable Components Using Genetic Algorithm and Simulation Method
Reliability optimization problem has a wide application in engineering area. One of the most important problems in reliability is redundancy allocation problem (RAP). In this research, we worked on a RAP with repairable components and k-out-of-n sub-systems structure. The objective function was to maximize system reliability under cost and weight constraints. The aim was determining optimal com...

A major competitive advantage of production and service systems is establishing a proper maintenance policy. Therefore, maintenance managers should make maintenance decisions that best fit their systems. Multi-criterion decision-making methods can take into account a number of aspects associated with the competitiveness factors of a system. This paper presents a multi-criterio...
متن کاملReliability analysis of repairable systems using system dynamics modeling and simulation
Repairable standby system’s study and analysis is an important topic in reliability. Analytical techniques become very complicated and unrealistic especially for modern complex systems. There have been attempts in the literature to evolve more realistic techniques using simulation approach for reliability analysis of systems. This paper proposes a hybrid approach called as Markov system ...

This paper presents an extension of Bayesian networks (BN) applied to reliability analysis of an open gas generator cycle Liquid propellant engine (OGLE) of launch vehicles. There are several methods for system reliability analysis such as RBD, FTA, FMEA, Markov Chains, and etc. But for complex systems such as LV, they are not all efficiently applicable due to failure dependencies between compo...
